It's just possible this is the larva of a fly from the genus Botanophila.
The fly feeds on the young 'male & female' fungal fruit bodies, ingesting the pollinating substances. It then deposits the mixture
on another fungus when it lays its eggs. This pollinates that fungus enabling it to produce spores and also provide food for the
fly larvae.

You can see detritus at either end of the larva and the area around it where it has been browsing.

Yvonne's Comments

They keyed out to

Psathyrella rubiginosa

but

this isn’t on the British list?

I’ve been
through the key a few times and can’t get it to anything else. This group is
notoriously difficult so I can’t really be sure. I have dried the specimens.

From Plant Parasites of Europe

or as

Stewart descibed it

Tuberculina sbrozzi is the fungus that can often be found on Greater Periwinkle.
It forms violet-grey discs over the pustules of the periwinkle rust preventing the it from sporulating.
This causes the leaves to become discoloured and deformed, far more so that when the rust is present
without the hyperparasite.

You can see the very long necks of the mature Melanospora lagenaria fungus on Birch Polypore (Fomitopsis betulina)

There was a thought the small yellow circes with the black spot in the middle might be something else?

but tthe image below suggests they might be the growth point of long necks (bottom right of the image.)

Thoughts welcome please.

Usually very difficult to get a photo of these as they zip about so much.

But this one was having extended gorge on the grass pollen.

Living up to its English name.

Still moving quickly but on the same few leaves so possible to obtain a few shots of the same individual.
